Traditionally, leadership development has focused on developing the leadership abilities and attitudes of individuals and 4 Health believes that the success of leadership development is linked to three variables:
- Individual learner characteristics and preferred styles
- The quality and nature of the leadership development programme
- Ownership and genuine support for behavioural change from the leader's line manager and wider organisation
Our clients understand that leadership can also be developed by strengthening the connection between the efforts of individual leaders and their organisational systems and policies through which they influence operations.
We make the distinction between leader development and leadership development but facilitate both.
Leader development focuses on the development of the leader, such as the personal attributes desired in a leader, desired ways of behaving, ways of thinking or feeling.
Leadership development focuses on the development of leadership as a process. This includes the interpersonal relationships, social influence process, and the team dynamics between the leader and his/her team, the contextual factors surrounding the team such as the perception of the organisational culture and climate and the social network linkages between the team and other groups in the organisation.
Useful tools in the process:
- Myers Briggs Step I & II personality preference profiling
- Emotional Intelligence profiling
- 1-2-1 Executive coaching
- 360 feedback exercises
Institute of leadership & management (ILM) Levels 5 and 7 Diploma programmes
The outcomes of leadership development:
- Improves the quality of analysis, risk management, decision making and change management in the organisation
- Limits staff turnover, avoiding the cost of recruiting and training new employees.
- Increases productivity, getting the best results from organisational resources and empowering staff to succeed
- Provides better vision, clarifying the issues effecting the organisation and focuses the workforce on a set of actionable goals
- Fosters innovation and new ways of working ensuring the organisation is dynamic and quick to respond to market changes

What customers think...
Words alone can not describe how excited I feel knowing that I completed all the assignments.
I can honestly say I enjoyed completing the essays, and although ideally I should have paced them out over the 2 years, I gained so much by consolidating my recent learning.
It has been a real journey which I have thoroughly enjoyed.
The course has given me the confidence, strategies, insight, passion and self belief to remain on this leadership journey.
Thank you
